With Paper and Pen

February 2, 2013

Lauren Ingraham Alexander

like a real writerIt’s day seven million and forty six of not having decent painting paper in the house. So I have been playing writer trying to figure out my life and solve all the world’s problems. So far I have a stupid drawing of myself and a coffee ring on my notepad. If that doesn’t make me a “real” writer than I don’t know what will.

Before I go can I just say THANK GOD it’s February? I have good memories of February because it’s the wintery link to spring. It’s the end of a horrible awful freezing dead story read every year. I know, I live in the Midwest where it will likely snow in April BUT still, there’s a difference…things come back to life, you can smell the world turning greener. It’s great.

Here’s to turning the page.

Treasure These Few Words…

…till we’re together, keep all my love forever.

Just wanted to send you a little love this evening. Side note: January is an excellent time to take a creative vacation. Although it’s been unseasonably warm here in Kansas, winter feelings of desolation are on the horizon. BUT- help is on the way in the form of  soft fuzzy robes, beating the computer at Scrabble (best word button = savior), and amazingly affordable amounts of citrus and avocado. What’s not to love?

What’s your favorite way to spend your free time in winter?

The Edge of Reason

October 20, 2011

Lauren Ingraham Alexander

I awoke to near freezing temps this morning. I stood out in the cold waiting for my dogs to poop like the moron I am every day and even though I have had a dog for over 5 years now the misery of waiting for poop in the cold never gets better. Nor does my ability to train my little poodle princess to do her business alone. She just needs an audience or she’d rather  put her winkle poos all over my floors.

The good news is that I have new paintings. And I feel like doing more which is a feeling I haven’t had in a long while. Maybe it’s the sense that cold winter is coming and baking myself into a blob of useless couch matter is not the way I want to go…paint paint paint!

Happy Thursday, folks. After all Thursday is like Friday Jr. my  wiser older sister once told me.

Customizable Mug Cozy from The Needle Nerd

Alright here we are the last day in March and although we are supposed to be going out like a lamb this feels more like a winter lion type day. It’s still in the 30′s. Enough with the winter already. I heard snow reports for parts of the US on the news this morning. I’m going to have a cup of coffee (unfortunately w/o one of these cute cozys from The Needle Nerd on Etsy and try to look ahead to April -tomorrow -  yikes April Fool’s Day! what tricks do you have planned?
