Peek Into My Subconscious

June 10, 2011

Lauren Ingraham Alexander

I painted this watercolor painting yesterday as a design experiment; no pencil, erasor, etc. I love to make designs, play with color, create random shapes and textures….or maybe it isn’t so random? I like this painting, especially the purple and yellow contrast. I thought to myself…hmmm…where have I seen that before recently? Where was I mentally drooling all over a certain something with those same colors?

Oh yeah – my red onion and lemon obsession from earlier in the week. You see, I spared you a boring post about how much I love the way these two foods look together – the perfect couple, a yin and yang, a dynamic duo of tart and tang. This photo was taken a few days before my painting came to be. Although I wasn’t trying to paint an onion and a lemon, it seems to have seeped into my brain and came out in the painting. Makes me wonder what other subconscious images I often paint…but never mind for now.

I’ve got a trip to pack for and some orders (don’t miss my 33% off sale) to get in the mail. Have a great Friday, blogland!
