I like to go collect things, pictures, odds and ends from the past….and sometime in my past I must have come across a story hand written by my dad when he was just a kid. I know he enjoys writing, and studied English in school enough that he had some dreams of writing for a living. So yesterday, when I was going through old pictures and found that old story that I had stashed away sometime (I really don’t remember finding it) it really made me smile and I thought hey, my dad wants to write, and I want to illustrate so let’s put it together and make a Father’s Day surprise! So here you go, Dad, I hope you like it.

The Strange Little Man

by Bob Ingraham

One day in my room while I was doing my homework, a little man appeared and said, “Do not be afraid, my boy.”

I did not know what to say at first, but I finally said “Who are you? And what do you want with me?”

“You can have any wish you want!” he said

At first I thought he was kidding but he meant it. Then I said without thinking, “I would like to be small like you.”

To this he snapped his fingers and said, “Ziz-wa-good-la!”

The next thing you know I was four inches high!

Then the little man disappeared.

I went outside (although it was hard to open the door) and saw a giant bee coming after me! I ran faster than lightening but he caught me.

Soon we were both high in the sky when I said, “Put me down!”

He obeyed me. The next thing I was falling through the air! All of the sudden I came to the bad part of falling. Crash! I landed right in the city dump. And boy, did it smell! I went back and told the little man to make me big again. When I was okay, he left.

But then, I remembered something. What was his name?

I think Dad did a great job with his story don’t you? Happy Father’s Day, Dad from the little one on the right below.
